But First, Coffee. | Director’s Thoughts

As we approach the upcoming New Year, our top commitment is to continue to improve your experience at the SCC. To accomplish this, we’ve initiated a customer based evaluation process of everything we could think of, both big and small. One of our first improvements that I’m happy to share with you today is our switch to a local, small batch, higher quality coffee offering by partnering with Rooted Grounds Coffee Company. Owned and operated by President David Knopf in West Chester, Rooted Grounds imports the finest quality coffee beans from Guatemala, Columbia, and Brazil. The company is creating a customized, specialty coffee that will only be available at the Sharonville Convention Center.

When David first established Rooted Grounds, he worked through the coffee roasting process 100 percent manually—so it took some trial and error. But as he mastered the flavors, perfected temperatures, and the duration of coffee bean roasting, he was able to convert his entire process to digital. Doing so allowed him to take on more customers, and today Rooted Grounds Coffee offers delicious high quality, small batch coffees to businesses, restaurants, universities, country clubs, and hospitals in the Greater Cincinnati area and beyond. An additional plus is that a portion of proceeds always goes back into our local community as well, including the Marvin Lewis Community Fund and BOGG Ministries in Dayton.

This year, we have also centered our focus on elevating the physical property of the Sharonville Convention Center. We’ve added branded entrance maps, higher quality custom furniture, and have recently opened the direct connector entrance between our new Hyatt Place Hotel and the Convention Center. My team and I have been very focused on enhancing every element of our facility that can be improved, and the new coffee is just one example of that. We believe improvement is our constant mission—Some of the upcoming improvements for 2018 will be new menus, updated Audio Visual equipment and more! In the meantime, we are eager to support our community, small businesses, and bring a better product in to share with our guests.

Since this new coffee is customized specially for the Sharonville Convention Center, we want to ask for your creative ideas in naming our new coffee! Please email your ideas to me at jdownton@sharonvilleconventioncenter.com. I hope to see you soon in Sharonville.

Best Regards,

Jim Downton
