Everyone deserves to celebrate the holidays in a warm, safe, and friendly place surrounded by loved ones. That’s why The Goodwill Association hosts an Annual Homelessness Awareness Holiday Dinner—to welcome families struggling with homelessness to the Sharonville Convention Center for a holiday dinner, entertainment, and plenty of holiday activities for the kids.
On December 8th, 2016, Goodwill hosted its 15th Annual Holiday Dinner and provided the Greater Cincinnati homeless community with an opportunity to celebrate the holidays. This event featured music, food prepared by the talented Convention Center chefs, and activities for children that included ornament crafting, coloring books, and visits with Santa. Sharonville Convention Center also provided teddy bears for each child to take home.
The event was attended by families and individuals currently residing in local homeless shelters. Volunteers came from all over the Greater Cincinnati area and from as far as Batesville, Indiana. “The Goodwill Holiday Dinner is a way for the homeless community to take part in something festive around the holiday season,” said Camille Robinson, Assistant Director of Ohio Valley Goodwill Industries. “It’s especially nice to offer new volunteer opportunities to help serve the homeless population, to offer a sense of community away from the shelter, a good holiday meal, and opportunity to have a fun holiday celebration with their kids.”
Sharonville Convention Center is honored to host the Goodwill holiday dinner each year, free of charge. We donate our space, the food, and presents—all that we ask of Goodwill is to bring the people, and we are happy to host the celebration with open arms.
