How to plan an event that creates lasting memories

It’s always useful to revisit new and trending ways to help create lasting memories around an event. Tried and true ways of making an impact are still very relevant, like bringing in celebrities or using state of the art technology and software. Here are a few trending ideas on how to bring something memorable to your next event.

Include Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR)

Including Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) into a meeting can be an incredibly memorable and accomplished task where all attendees can get involved and make a difference. Many companies have created an environment of CSR that challenges employees to give back, but it turns out that it also helps create employee retention. Why not harvest that same atmosphere into meetings and events.

Memorable Theme

When deciding on a theme, several considerations should be thought through, such as potential sponsors that might be interested surrounding the theme. Burba Hotel Network (BHN) recommends when creating a theme to focus on the positives first. “We are firm believers that there are positives in everything, even slow economies, and we do our best to promote the positive opportunities. Idealistic, perhaps, but we consider ourselves thought leaders who focus on positive thoughts and we want our attendees to do the same. We don’t ignore the negative, we just don’t accentuate it,” says Bob Hayes, co-founder.

Memorable Conference Name

Having a name that keeps with the theme is going to entice attendees and get them excited about the event or meeting. Hayes recalls that they “…try to pick names for our events that lend themselves to acronyms that make sense. In our business, the names of our conferences get very cumbersome. Take the Americas Lodging Investment Summit, the leading and largest hotel investment conference in the world. BHN chose this name because the acronym is ALIS, pronounced like the name, Alice — something easy to remember and appealing.” Take time to brainstorm a name that also matches the theme and CSR that you have planned for the event.

Remember to keep it simple and to make sure the theme and CSR are promoting a positive future.
