When you’re hosting an event or meeting with a large number of people needing to check-in, the lines are bound to be long and slow. Sometimes these lines are filled with eager anticipation to attend and get started, but long lines can also be a source of frustration and impatience.
What was once thought to be Sci-Fi – facial recognition is now a readily available technology that speeds up the check-in process.
Michael Shapiro, technology editor at Meetings + Conventions magazine talks about this new software – “Using facial recognition to check in is amazingly fast: Once an attendee steps in front of the camera at the check-in kiosk, an on-screen prompt asks them to confirm whether they are the person in question. A simple yes checks in the attendee, and in the unlikely case the match isn’t correct, another option is provided.”
If you’re worried about your personal information or your picture being public on the internet, they have that covered too – “A biometric identity scan is more secure than traditional check-in methods, in which someone could theoretically enter anyone’s name. Plus, the process is GDPR-compliant which says the Zenus software does not store anyone’s image. Rather, images are streamed with secure encryption and never stored anywhere. All attendee information remains only in the registration database.”
Improving the overall experience for your attendees is always the goal of meeting planners and organizers. What do you think…would you adopt this new technology for meetings?
