“Every spring, like it or not, we are all beginners, all over again.”

Winter is almost officially behind us in the midwest, and that means it’s time to brighten up our events with spring flowers. As the sun warms the soil, event planners everywhere are putting the finishing touches on seasonal weddings, bridal showers, and spring galas. The annual nature of many events provides an opportunity to do better–or more–than last year. Perhaps the last “plus-it” item on your to-do is to add a floral touch to your table displays. For that, we have a tip for you! Straight out of the glossy, classic pages of Brides magazine, we have compiled a list of the hottest blooms and their designer aesthetics for you:
Snapdragons– These whimsical blossoms add that boho touch that so many young brides fancy. They come in 60-plus colors, are less expensive, and create artistic flair when used sparingly in mixed bouquets.
Anemones– These beauties are perfect for everything from classic to romantic or modern arrangements. They pair superbly with trailing greenery or a boho mix with roses.
Anthurium– Anthurium offers a modern, minimal look. They are a must-have for tropical weddings and don’t need much else added to the mix. Anthuriums stand out on their own. They also come in a vast range of colors, from bright reds to creamy whites.
Carnations– Ew, right?! Well, no. Think again. Carnations are gorgeous tiny flowers and provide a modern, romantic feel. When used en masse, these guys can really pack a punch for cheap (for instance, in a massive hanging installation).
Lilac– Often seen in calming shades of lavender, these romantic and sweet-smelling blooms feel fresh-from-the-field and make you want to fall in love. They add an idyllic spring vibe when paired with greenery or woven into a bouquet with loose silk ribbon.
Sweet Peas– Delicate and a little messy, sweet peas are feminine and have a lovely perfumey scent. These blooms have an enormous range of colors—in fact, they have one of the most extensive ranges in the plant kingdom!
Lily of the Valley– This delicate little flower works well in small and low centerpieces and gives any occasion a classic look. These cuties only come in white.
Tulips– It’s spring, therefore, you must have a tulip in your life! Tulips are very boho/classic and come in a wide variety. Each type has a different style and feel and bloom in all sorts of colors.
Orchids– Not long ago, these tropical blossoms were considered cheesy as wedding flowers. (What?) Now, they’re all the rage. There are many fun new ways Orchids have been used in arrangements with a modern twist! Not only do they come in a huge range of colors, but they have countless varieties—mini orchids, giant orchids, and every shape imaginable!
Peonies– Ahh, peonies. Sigh. Everyone adores them, even with that panic attack of a price tag. Traditional peonies come in white, pink, rose, and red. Tree peonies and hybrid peonies come in a more extensive color palette and include shades of coral, yellow, dark mahogany, and deep purple.
Roses– Another classic bloom that will never go away and has many varieties and colors for every style. Roses are a boho/classic option that mixes well with other flowers in both centerpieces and bouquets.
Gardenias– These tender flowers are classy and romantic. With their strong, sweet scent and large size, gardenias make perfect boutonnieres.
Amaryllis– The peach variation of amaryllis is quite pretty at a spring event. These boho/romantic blooms are a good substitution for a face flower if you don’t want to spend all your budget on peonies.
Freesia– Another flower that ushers in the sweet scent of an open field. Freesia just says, “spring.”
Muscari– These little guys are VERY hippie/boho. They are stunning in a sweet flower crown or boutonniere but are also perfect potted or sprinkled down a table for a whimsical centerpiece.
